Toni Storm's Return Is Promised; KAIRI's AEW Future Is Not

Khan's WrestleDream comments distinguish a contracted star's eventual comeback from interest in a free agent.

Two major women's wrestling names came up during AEW's WrestleDream press conference, but they did not receive equivalent announcements. Tony Khan said he expects 'Timeless' Toni Storm to return to the company. Asked about KAIRI, he praised her ability and expressed interest in the possibility of signing her without confirming that any deal exists.

The distinction is crucial: one story is about when an AEW performer might resume appearances, while the other concerns a free agent whose future destination remains unsettled.

What Happened

Speaking to reporters after October 17 WrestleDream, Khan addressed Storm's absence following an attack depicted in AEW's storylines. He said the former AEW Women's World Champion would return and seek payback, while declining to identify a date, location or specific scheduled segment. Both Cageside Seats and F4W reported the exchange.

The same gathering included a question about KAIRI, the former WWE and Stardom star who has drawn outside interest. Khan called the idea of her joining AEW appealing but did not say that she had signed. His comments establish interest, not a contract, television appearance or debut booking.

Fightful provided additional context two days earlier. Its October 16 update reported that KAIRI still had no completed agreement with AEW as of that week. The report does not eliminate the possibility of a future agreement; it does rule out presenting the scrum's praise as confirmation of an existing one.

Why It Matters

Storm is already part of AEW's recent history, including several runs as Women's World Champion. A credible statement that she will return matters because viewers have been waiting for the storyline surrounding her disappearance to resume. But the absence of a date means there is no trustworthy countdown to that return.

KAIRI is in a different category. Promoter enthusiasm can indicate genuine interest, yet a possible deal passes through conversations and other considerations before it becomes an announcement. Treating every positive statement from Khan as an executed contract would make the newsroom an amplifier for rumors.

The women's title picture provides another reason for precision. Neither scrum answer established a title defense, changed a champion, or named either woman as a contender in a booked match. Wumbo's championship record should follow completed results, not speculative career moves.

What Comes Next

For Storm, the next verifiable milestone is an official return announcement or an actual televised appearance. Her prospective revenge story can be followed once AEW identifies a date and advances the narrative on-screen.

For KAIRI, a genuine signing requires a clear statement from the wrestler or promotion, or equivalent independently verifiable evidence. Until such evidence appears, Khan's interest and Fightful's no-deal report must remain separate, compatible facts. Neither should be stretched into a claim about a championship changing hands.
